Professor Joshua Alabi, a member of the Governing Council of the Laweh Open University College, Ghana, has called on the United States authorities to undertake and sell open and distance online learning devices, particularly for tertiary training students. Open online education is a versatile part-time mode of study that allows distance learning through online structures to offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
He stated that the open online system of studying might assist workers who are interested in furthering their education without quitting or leaving their jobs.

Let's aggressively sell on-line schooling - Prof. Alabi 1Prof. Alabi said it is currently consistent with you. S. A . ‘s tertiary academic gadget, about sixteen out of 100 qualified college students who applied, was given admission into public tertiary establishments because of structural and useful inadequacies. Meanwhile, he stated that the open gadget may help clear up all one’s troubles and allow organized college students to accumulate knowledge at the time they want. Professor Alabi, who became a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, made this known as the Guest Speaker at a convocational lecture organized by the Laweh Open University College in Accra on the topic, “Relevance of Open and Distance Learning in Contemporary Ghana.”

For a few years, he stated that the Ghanaian instructional gadget had centered momore on certification than gaining knowledge, thereby contributing to a growth in exam malpractices. “With open online schooling, you are not pressured to learn; you are a disciplined and mature individual who knows precisely what he desires to examine, puts in his pleasant, and takes the research significantly to excel,” he explained. The Guest Speaker stated there had been many informed and skillful individuals in specific vocational and technical works who were denied access to training because they did now not possess certificates, which became incorrect.

“There is the need for a paradigm shift in Africa’s academic machine, and while you meet a person on the simple level, and you do not give the individual a threat to progress, how do you determine that the individual is successful,” he requested. “If we have a taxi motive force or caterer who is well educated, we will get a nice carrier. Therefore, we want to give them the opportunity,” he added. Prof. Alabi recommended that teens be key advocates for this educational reform and placed a strain on policymakers to implement policies to guide the machine. When the system is accredited, he stated that employees who’re given the risk to examine could undoubtedly impact students and academicians with sensible palms-on information and vice versa.

Professor Elifas Tozo Bisanda, the Vice-Chancellor of the “Open University of Tanzania,” spoke at the event and said an open online device for studying instilled a sense of field in students and made them responsible for their improvement. The system allowed college students to request to write an exam in advance rather than at the top of a semester after they had organized it thoroughly. He stated that the machine became flexible, applicable, and handy, contributing immensely to countrywide improvement.

Prof. Bisanda cited that seeing that Africa’s academic device focused on certification, college students occasionally attended lectures just to mark ‘present’ in an attendance sheet; however, they paid very little interest to a lecture, mainly once they knew they might get admission to the whole thing lectured on the internet.

“If all and sundry can read online books today, why will we want lectures? That is the query. On the open online management machine, as soon as the character logs in, it suggests the scholar is online,” he stated. Mr. Alex Tetteh Enyo, a former Minister of Education, said he was happy that Laweh University confirmed the possibility of applying open and distance training as a vehicle to decorate academic entry flexibility and cost discounts.
